Looking for a great way to increase fan engagement on your YouTube page? Try creating a YouTube Video Contest – it’s the perfect way to drive traffic to your website and increase your SEO by including FREE, fresh, optimized video content!!

The key to creating a great contest is to think “locally.”

Creating a YouTube Video Contest:

  • Contact a local high school or community college, preferably one with a video editing class.
  • Work with the administration to create guidelines, and discuss the opportunity for the students.
  • Have the students create videos under a certain theme. Themes can vary from a number of things. (Make a funny commercial for our business, Why we should give you a paid internship in our office).
  • Upload videos to your YouTube channel and dedicate one page on your website site to them.
  • Promote the videos, and decide if your fans will vote or if you will pick a winner.
  • Choose a winner and promote it across all of your social networks, and on your website.
  • Offer a prize to winner such as a gift card, or a part-time internship creating videos for your business.

Use the following email template below when contacting schools.

Dear (Teacher’s Name),

I am writing this email to inform you about an educational opportunity for your students. My name is (Name) from (Business Name). We would like to hold a YouTube contest with your class. We want the students to use their video production skills in creating these videos, therefore benefiting the class work and giving them a great opportunity to produce real content for a business.

The videos will be placed on our YouTube Channel (provide link here to YouTube Page) for the community to view.

The winner of the contest will receive __________________. I am interested in speaking with you more on the idea. I can be reached by this email address or you can give me a call at (enter phone number).
